The walls were white as the clouds, the scent of antiseptic clung heavily no matter the perfumes they tried to use to cover it up and the sounds of computers beeped softly in the background. Their rooms were set up to a point that resembled normalcy with a living space to kick back and relax while there was a bedroom for each resident. Lily Anne Thorne had been here for quite a while, but most of the time she wasn't conscious until a short while back. Since then she has been set up with a room of her own little apartment if you will. The place was so dull that she had to change that, so the first order of business was to decorate the couch with more colorful pillows which popped with bright colors. She used a blanket to cover some of the floor to add a splash down the hallway to the rooms, and even drawn flowers of all sizes and colors to hang on the walls with tape.
When she heard that she would be receiving a roommate she burst with joy, energy renewed in her veins as she set to work to add more to welcome the new girl to their new home. She had convince someone to provide her the tools to create a large banner which she hanged over the hallway so that when you first walk in you can clearly read it; Welcome to your new Home!" She painted little red hearts and bright yellow sunflowers all around it finding that they fit the symbolism for home.
Lily herself was colorful unlike her blonde hair that hung loosely around her shoulders. Her eyes bright green with flecks of blue glittering under the light as she waited with anticipation wondering what her roommate will look like. How they will be and how soon she could start calling her bestie. Her pale blue dress hung on her bodice with tight embrace before flowing outwards all around her legs stopping shy of her ankles. She practically looked like a princess right down to the fake white flower she stashed in her hair.
Humming she bounced around the apartment putting out last minute details such as the stash of cookies she kept for such an occasion, the new picture of a vase of roses and a small hair clip she found and kept. It was a small bright simple clip but she wondered if her new roommate would like it in hopes that it was going to be her home warming gift.
The door was open bringing in all the sounds of those dashing about out there, including the pair of feet coming her way. She tilted her head in hope as she realized with a start it could very well be her coming! Excitement buzzing with nervous butterflies floated all inside of her while she looked out at whoever was coming up. "Welcome!" She burst her lilting voice getting ahead of herself.

The past 24 hours went by in a rapid haze. The previous night Jillian had met up with several high ranking Vendetta members in a dark, musty tattoo parlor. The buzz of needles rang through her ears as she tried to listen to what her fellow members were telling her. The meeting was brief and vague. She didn’t bother asking questions; it’d only lead to a meaningless, empty conversation that would take her right back to her original question. Besides, she had been preparing for this moment for months. She tried to leave ask quickly as possible, to savor her last moments of freedom but the Queen there didn’t want to waste any time. Jillian was whisked off to an elegant, brightly-lit apartment complex. Inside they met a man. He was in his mid 40’s, with a receding hairline and a glinting, silver tooth. He held a swift, idle conversation with the Queen before telling Jillian their plan. It all flew over her head; she heard something about death and memory loss. As he continued to talk, she felt her eyes growing heavier and heavier. The hot sensation that always flowed through her veins ran cold for the first time in months. She took one long, loud gasp of air before waking up in a white laboratory. -----
A man stood over her. He was surprisingly young, perhaps even younger than her. He brushed away the lock of wavy hair that fell over his eyes and he chewed on his lower lip as he looked at Jillian. He muttered something inaudible under his breath and slowly began to take off his green gloves.
“Well, Miss Moon, welcome to the Vena Corps!” there was a slight pause before he flashed her a large, slightly goofy smile. “I’m sure you’re very confused, but don’t worry. Everything will make sense fairly soon. For now, we’re going to have some, erm, nice men escort you to your room. You’ll be able to take a quick break before you get the grand tour. Your roommate will be. . .” his voice trailed off but his eyes were suddenly glued to the tablet he was holding. He blinked, rubbing one of his eyes as he held the tablet closer to his face. Bright, scarlet colored flowers bloomed on his cheeks as he slammed the tablet down onto the counter.
“Oh no, um, erm, well. . . my-name-is-Bean-and-it-was-nice-to-meet-you-but-I-should, erm, uhm,” he looked down at his bare wrist as if he were checking a watch that simply didn’t exist. Without finishing his sentence he shuffled out of the room. Two large, bulky men dressed entirely in black took his place. They said nothing but gestured at the door. Jillian slid off metal table she had been laying on and followed them out.
The walk from the labs to the dorms was surprisingly short. She had expected for the VC to be an elaborate maze, filled with various detectors and trap doors. But hell, she didn’t really expect to make it into the building in the first place. The guards stopped in front of a door with a large, golden “5” hanging on the front of it. They stood there, their eyes seemingly glazed over as they blankly stared at whatever was in front of them. Jillian gave them a strange look before slowly opening the door.
“Oh god,” the words flew out of her mouth without thinking. Like the labs, the room was white and sterile. The air felt thick from whatever chemically smell was lingering around, and she couldn’t help but wrap her arms around her chest as the cold draft hit her across the face. The paper flowers and bright pillows made Jillian feel like she had stepped into a daycare center, and the blanket laying in the back hallway was an indication that the horrendous decor must have continued in one of the rooms. The worst thing, however, was the Tinkerbell-like creature that stood before her. The enthusiasm laced in the girl’s voice only made Jillian cringe and take a step back. Her eyes traveled down the girl’s flowy dress, which starkly contrasted from the grey t-shirt and black sweatpants that Jillian wore.
“Um. . . we’re going to have to do something about those paper flowers,” Jillian said. Unfolding her shoulders, she boldly walked into the room and tried to mask the nervousness that was secretly eating away at her. Maybe she knows I’m a spy. . . It was a ridiculous thought, but nevertheless an indirect reminder that making friends was not her priority. She glanced back over at the girl. Several embers suddenly sparked out of her fingertips, and Jillian took a quick breath to calm herself back down.
“I’m Jillian by the way. I guess we’ll be living together.”

By the way Lily reacted you would think that she would be deterred by her new roommates disposition or at the very least her lack of fashion. But she smiled brightly as if the girl before her thanked her for the wonderful effort put into the room, and asked to have a sleepover. Her eyes sparkled as she looked to the men who stood behind her practically watching her with drool slipping out of their partly gaped mouths. She paid no attention but smiled brightly at them, "Thank you!" She beamed before turning her focus back on her roommate.
"What?" Her eyes quickly took a scan of the room at the pictures of flowers she drew, the paper flowers she decorated from the ceiling and wondered what it may look like to someone else. Was it a bit much? "Oh, maybe I went a little overboard." Her voice trailed off as she turned in a semi-circle sighing at the end. It was a bit much. But often this happened to her, she always ended up trying too much. In the end she always goes overboard.
"Sorry about that, I get a little excited at times." Lifting a shouldering in a half shrug.
Bounding over to the girl stretching out a hand before quickly dropping it. Maybe touching was a bit much for their first day. Before Lily wouldn't have thought twice about it, but that was before and now even the simplest of touches could give her incite onto someone's personal emotions. Something she found could be considered invasive. It was all still very new to her, and controlling it was hard. She could get a feel for the room if someone felt it strong enough such as fear or excitement. And this girl wasn't feeling one emotion heavily at the moment which left Lily unsure what to do. If she knew she could make a move upon that, but she didn't.
Before all this Lily was naturally good at telling emotions by the way someone's eyes spoke, or their face muscles moved. She was good at these things because living in a world of darkness people rarely said what they felt, nor were they good about showing it. Actions spoke louder than words often, and that was also true for the eyes.
Drawing back to the girl before her she pushed all that down to handle later especially considering sparks flew from the girl's fingertips. "Whoa!" She jumped back in surprise. "Cool." Her eyes were glued to where the sparks came out. It made her think of her cousin who had a very fiery attitude with words that could burn and slice. She missed her even if she was tough on Lily. She was the one who convinced her family to allow her to go to school which only ended in an accident that lead her here.
"You can create fireworks?"
"Oh I am Lily by the ways, what's your name?"
